We took the plunge....
In January, we bought bunkbeds for the boys!
It was actually part of their Christmas present, but although we had been looking at bunkbeds for awhile, we hadn't found a set that we loved. Luckily, my parents spotted a beautiful set in the clearance center at Art Van and we brought it home that night.
The boys were soooo excited! Jeff spent a whole Saturday building them and getting the room ready. When it was done, the boys RACED upstairs to see them. Within 5 minutes, they had every railing and corner covered with stuffed animals. Every ledge had Legos lined up and there were even blankets hung from the top bunk to make a "tent" of the bottom bed. They absolutely loved them and were so excited to share a room together.
Although I have to admit... it was a little bittersweet for me.
Kolby is still the "baby" for now and was still in the "nursery." His crib converted into a toddler bed and although he is now 5 years old, he had still fit into it to sleep. It was so cute to see him in the big twin size bed of the bunk bed, but it reminded me how fast he is growing up. He looked so little in the big bed compared to his tiny toddler bed. I wish I could freeze time and keep him little!
However, it was exciting too. Now the nursery is empty... just waiting to be turned into a pink little heaven. As much as I love the jungle theme and the murals on the walls, its time for a very girly room. Oh yeah... pink, pink, pink.... I'm even trying to convince Jeff we need a little crystal chandelier!! Right now, I'm scouring nursery designs and bedding ideas online... trying to decide on colors and themes. Can't wait to get started!!
