One of the projects that I have been so excited to complete has been our nursery. I love decorating and I couldn't wait to change our cute... but very boy jungle-themed nursery... into a beautiful room fit for our little princess.
First of all, here is the before picture of our nursery. It was a perfect place to bring our boys home to. A jungle theme with hand-painted murals on the wall that matched our John Lennon nursery set. I loved it, but it was time to say good-bye.
Good-bye jungle. Good-bye green walls. Good-bye boyish charm.
It was a little bittersweet to say good-bye... but I got over it quickly! LOL!
HELLO GIRLY FUN!
Butterflies are a symbol of love and happiness in Asian culture, so I knew I wanted to use the butterfly as a decorative element. I was so excited to find so many butterfly decorations! I found 3-D wall butterflies at Target, vinyl wall transfers of butterfly trees and quotes on Ebay and even scrounged up some nylon butterflies we had in the basement that we were able to spray paint. After my Mom and I went to the fabric store, I fell in love with a number of different print designs and color patterns. I settled on a red, grey, black and white color scheme. I wanted the nursery to be modern, very girly, but not so baby-ish that she couldn't grow into it easily. My Mom spent hours sewing the incredibly beautiful quilt for Adelyn. We even added her name to the back! I absolutely love how it turned out! Jeff even spent an entire day cutting out her Korean name out of wood. I just love it. And of course I was able to convince him she needed a little chandelier. I think she has him wrapped around her finger already!
So my little butterfly... after many hours of sanding down our murals... many, many... many coats of paint, and lots and lots of love... we have finished your room. I hope you love it as much as I do! I have smiled everyday I walk by it! And of course, I couldn't just walk by it without going in, smiling at each wall, running my hands over the quilt and imagining your sweet giggles coming from it. We're ready for you to come home sweet pea!
The quote on the wall says "Hush my Baby don't you cry, rest your wings my butterfly..."

Wow! Amber, your work paid off! What a beautiful room, Adelyn will love it, I'm sure. What a fun room to make memories in!
Um....this is kind of amazing. Actually, I love it! Love, love, LOVE!!!
The room is beautiful!! You, your mom and your husband did a great job. What a lucky little girl!! Can't wait for you guys to get home with your sweet baby girl. I hope you're having a great trip right now!
Yeah..love! We just happen to be doing butterflies too with a little dash of owls (cause I love them) My MIL has a thing for butterflies since my FIL passed away, so it seemed like a natural choice! Beautiful job!
