Hoddeok!

We made the YUMMIEST Korean treat a couple weeks ago! They are definitely a new family favorite!

They are called hoddeok and are a Korean pancake. They are made from yeast dough so are actually more like a yeast donut. The best part? When you bite into them, the inside is filled with brown sugar and crushed walnuts. They all melt together in your mouth! My mouth is watering just thinking about these!

They were fairly easy to make too. The hardest part was that I had to get up 3 hours early to make the dough so it could rise (I might try making some dough ahead of time and freezing it? Worth a try!). Then you just put some of the dough in your hand, make a little bowl where the brown sugar and walnuts go, and then fold the rest of the dough over so you have little balls of dough. When you are ready to cook them, you just put them in a fry pan with a little oil and squish them down a little so they look like a fat pancake and cook them a few minutes until they are golden brown on each side. Seriously... these things are HEAVENLY! We all enjoyed them very very much and can't wait to make them again!

If you would like to try them, here is the recipe I used: Korean Sweet Pancakes (Hoddeok)
