Updated Homestudy

Friday morning my blood pressure spiked...

It all started when we received an e-mail from FAC stating that unfortunately, we were going to have to update our homestudy. My stomach sank and my heart raced. Our homestudy expired on April 24 and we had thought we had just squeaked by and gotten our paperwork in on the nick of time. Now to hear that we still had to update it... I just wanted to cry. I wanted our I600 to be submitted so bad and I thought this could delay us by weeks... maybe a month! After a stressful morning of multiple e-mails and phone calls to both FAC and Spence-Chapin, we finally figured it all out.

Yes we needed our homestudy updated.
Yes it would cost us more money.
But thank goodness, no... it would not delay having our I600 submitted.

The good news is that we received all of the approvals from Michigan in the nick of time. Amongst the crazy stressful Friday morning, I had discovered our final court papers had been signed and approved so all was well on the Michigan side. Everything was set to submit the I600. The bad news is... there is one more interstate compact agreement that needs to be approved between New York and Michigan that will need a homestudy less than one year old.

So Sunday afternoon, our case worker came out for one more home visit. It was a very pleasant time spent catching up and telling her every detail of our sweet daughter's referral. I had gone through our old homestudy and changed all of the information that was outdated for her and edited it with our new information, so hopefully it will not take her long to make the changes and get it resigned/dated. Spence-Chapin assured me that it does not take long for this interstate agreement to receive approval so it will not hold anything up.

One little speedbump and we're back on track!
