Get into car and notice 6 missed calls from Jeff on cell phone.
Amber: "Hello... what's up honey?"
Jeff: "Well.... would you like some news?"
Amber: "What kind of news?"
Jeff: "Well... Spence-Chapin called..."
Amber: (voice getting higher... heart starting to pound...) "And..... ??"
Jeff: (pausing... and getting choked up...) "WE HAVE OUR REFERRAL!"
Amber: OH MY GOSH! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! (breathe... breathe... insert screaming)... oh my gosh... are you serious? Holy cow! Are you for real? (starting to cry....) I can't believe it! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! (giggling...) We have a daughter! Oh my gosh... Oh my gosh...
Continue trying to drive while screaming, crying, giggling and trying not to go into shock!
The rest of the conversation was basically a blur. I just kept saying "oh my gosh" and giggling hysterically! Jeff told me her name and birth date. He had to repeat it a number of times because seriously I couldn't even think straight! However, I finally understood that she was born in August and was 6 1/2 months old. That is the only information we were given. The rest would be coming in her file in two days. How was I supposed to wait two days? I would be seeing my daughter's face in two days!!
Oh my gosh.... we have a baby girl! WE HAVE OUR REFERRAL!
I seriously spent the night walking aimessly around the house in a daze. I remember calling our immediate family and close friends and crying together on the phone. I remember going back and forth between being on cloud 9 to panicking at the amount of things that need to get done in the next three months! Decorating the nursery, packing, sending care packages, filling out more paperwork, submitting I600 forms, visas, getting ready to travel, finding a long term sub for school, oh my goodness... oh my goodness... oh my goodness....
One day at a time. This is going to be both the fastest and slowest three months of my life!! If everything goes smoothly for our paperwork, we will probably be traveling sometime in late May or early June!
Our minds were full of so many questions! Her files and pictures would not be here until 3:00 Friday afternoon. How on earth were we going to make it two more days! This was going to be torture!
I don't know how I slept that night! But I do know prayers of thanks were on my lips! God is so good! SOOOOO GOOD!
Story to be continued.... hee hee hee.... Check back soon!!
