I was on the blog (Taking the Road Less Traveled) of an amazing adoptive family who is currently adopting a baby girl from Taiwan. The day they started their journey, they lit two candles... one for their daughter and one for her birth mother. They wrote such a touching post and wrote this beautiful poem. It had me in tears! I am so happy to share it...
We Lit A Candle
We lit a candle, we lit one for you
But always remember, we lit two
One for a child, we don’t yet know
One for the woman in whose belly she’ll grow
She will give you life, we will help you live it
We’ll hold you forever, and her for but a minute
But in that minute, a breath in time
She will show such love, and make you mine
When you come home to us, we’ll still light two
One for your birthmother, and always one for you
