Happy Children's Day!

Is that not the coolest holiday ever?

A day dedicated entirely to children! May 5 is Korea's national Children's Day. It is a day where families celebrate children and spend the entire day doing family things and enjoying eachother. I hope our sweet pea did something special too to celebrate! I have already written this day down in our calendar for us to celebrate each year together as a family!

According to our adoptive friends, Lauren and Eric, they posted some information on their amazing blog "How the Bush Grows" about Children's Day in Korea. Here is an excerpt from their blog:

Per our Agency:
(and our agency too- we share the same agency!!!)

Children’s Day – Children's Day is celebrated on May 5th of every year in South Korea. In 1923, Bang Jung-Hwan, a social educator, suggested that May 1st should be established as Children's day to share love and honor children. He made the Children’s Day public via campaigns. In 1946, the Children's day was moved to May 5th. Many families go on outings and visit amusement parks with their children on this day.

I will leave you with a quote from Bang Chong-Hwan the founder of Children’s Day:

Children are the future of our nation. Let’s show respect for children. Children who grow up with ridicule and contempt from others will become people who disrespect others, while children who grow up with respect from others will become people who respect others in turn.

Thank you Lauren for sharing!
