Our little catastrophe... I mean caTOOTHstrophe started when Kolby's two front teeth started getting wiggly. Kolby is the kind of kid who HATES wiggly teeth. He will not touch them or let anyone else touch them. They literally have to fall out. His last baby tooth that fell out he swallowed in his sleep! (We even had to write the tooth fairy a note!)
So although both front teeth were wiggly, one was just hanging there. We begged and pleaded to just let Daddy try to see if it would come out, but he just screamed and cried about it, so we gave up. He could push it all over with his tongue, yet wouldn't touch it or try to pull it out.
So fast forward to the night of open house.
I rushed home from school to get to Kolby's open house by 5:00 since we also needed to get to my school by 6:30 for Carson's open house (and being a teacher, I needed to be there too to greet my new students). It was already 4:30 so we really needed to hurry. As soon as we pulled in the driveway, there was a stray dog that was hanging around. The kids jumped out of the car and after I confirmed he was friendly, they went to get some dog biscuits for him.
Suddenly, I hear Kolby scream that he had gotten stung by a bee. Tears running down his face and sobbing, I quickly hussle him into the house. He was stung on his neck, so I quickly grab his T-shirt to pull it off. As I'm pulling it over his head, the bee- still in his shirt- flies out into our house. Both boys start screaming again as they watch it flying around. I tell Carson to watch where the bee goes while I run to the freezer for ice.
Just then, Kolby suddenly yells "Mom... my TOOTH!!" As he looks up at me still sobbing from the bee sting, I see that there is not just a gap where one tooth was, but BOTH TEETH! While I was pulling his T-shirt off, the neckline must have caught the two wiggly teeth and tugged them BOTH out!
So now both boys are worried about the bee flying around and also about finding Kolby's missing front teeth which were somewhere on the kitchen floor. I find the bee in the sunroom and not wanting to get too close myself, decide to spray bee spray at it. Basically, I foamed up the entire window! But it worked! The bee came to a quick demise!
We hopped in the car, toothless, bee-stung, out of breath, and determined to make it to open house... somewhat on time. Daddy was waiting for us. Since I was a few minutes late, I just shook my head, held up my hand for silence and said "don't ask." Of course, I didn't need to tell him our adventure since the boys very excitedly told him a play-by-play of our events and Kolby showed him his adorable toothless grin.
Now that is a story the tooth fairy won't forget!!!
